MONROE — Owen Burling secured the 190-pound weight class title to lead Lake Mills to an eighth-place finish with 93 points at the Monroe Invitational on Saturday. Burling (21-1) dominated his opponents, pinning Clinton’s Barley Schell in 29 seconds and Beloit Memorial’s Cam’Ron Ruff in just 54 seconds. He then claimed victory by injury default over Sugar River’s Trei Udelhoven (32-3) midway through the second period.
Mason Wollin (157) and Thomas Cassady (215) each earned fifth-place finishes. Wollin (23-8) went 3-1, securing two pins and one decision, while Cassady (32-6) had a perfect 4-1 record with four first-period pins.
Gabriel Logothetis (113), Aric Braund (144), and Blake Bohlman (165) all placed sixth. Logothetis (22-9) earned one pin, Braund (23-11) went 3-2 with three pins, and Bohlman finished 2-2 with two pins.
Whitewater took ninth place with 89 points, with Jarvis Porcaro leading the team by winning the 120-pound title. Porcaro (27-5) pinned Beloit Memorial’s Miguel Rodriguez in 1:37, won a 15-1 major decision over Belmont/Platteville’s Aiden Weigel, and triumphed 8-5 over Boscobel/Wauzeka-Steuben’s Ashton Udelhoven in the title match.
Jasen Porras (126), Traysen Thomason (150), and Avi Kalra (165) each placed fifth. Porras (21-8) posted a 4-1 record with two pins and two technical falls, Thomason (25-8) also went 4-1 with two technical falls, one pin, and one decision, and Kalra was 3-1 with two pins and one major decision.
Max Babcock finished eighth at 157 with one major decision, while Keenan Sheffield (138), Richi Kalra (175), and Austin Retzlaff (215) each earned one pin.
